Bad Shopping Habits - Here's How to Quit in Only a Few Steps
The question of how to stop buying impulsively is being asked daily by hundreds of women (and lots of men) who seek advice on this essential issue.
Shopping wisely is of the utmost importance, especially at this time when the whole world is in a recession and people are struggling to make a proper living.
Giving advice in this regard will not go down very well with the shop masters, but for some this might be a live-or-die situation.
1. First of all you have to be honest and get clarity on what you buy. What is it that you continuously buy that makes it a habit? Is it clothes, ornaments, jewelery or just a single item like shoes, for instance?
2. Then start counting how many of the same or similar items you have. This is an important step because if you are a real habitual shopper, chances are that you will not know or think about several items that you already bought at some time.
3. Just for a few minutes ponder on why you bought it, what it has really meant to you, and why you should buy similar things.
The answer to the above questions will make you realize that shopping just for the sake of it can be futile and prevent you from buying just anything.
4. Plan your shopping route at home so that you do not have to pass your favorite shop. If necessary, postpone your shopping trip for such a time that you are in a hurry or have to fetch the kids from school. You will then only hop into the store and quickly buy what is necessary and not buy for the habit of it.
5. Become really interested in a cheap hobby, which will keep you busy and do not drive to the shopping mall. Yes, the hobby itself might cost you some, but the time that you have to spend on your hobby instead will cost you far less, should that time have been in a expensive store.
These are only a few tips that can help you think how to save you money and maybe rid you from some habit that has plagued you for many years.

Canada Online Shopping Habits
Canadians live in a beautiful corner of the world abundant with many amazing outdoor recreational pursuits to participate in. So while there is a multitude of opportunities available outside, Canada's online shopping industry is experiencing a boom with many Canadians choosing the option of doing their shopping inside and online.
In a recent study conducted in Canada, it was discovered that online shopping in Canada is on the rise with 55 percent of Canadians making their purchases via the Internet. The majority of online shoppers are women, and also include a widespread population across the age groups of 25 and 64. According to the studies being conducted on E-Commerce and one specifically conducted by JC Williams Group 'Canadians are embracing E-commerce as a shopping channel and using the Internet and catalog to conduct product research'.
Many International companies have offered web based shopping options for their customers for a while, however now more than ever retailers in Canada are beginning to expand their existing websites to include more than just the location details and telephone numbers of their stores. By providing clients with catalogs both in hard copy and via email, secure online environments, price comparison, reduced shipping costs and easy to use web based interfaces Canada's online shopping experience is now better than ever.
It seems that online shopping in Canada is producing a large number of savvy shoppers or bargain hunters - some are self confessed "clickaholics", indulging in the world of coupons and special deals. Canadian online shoppers, specifically, are looking for that little bit extra such as convenience, low price, brand, quality, performance, and easy use of coupons.
Canadian online shopping allows the consumer to buy anything from women's and men's apparel, beauty products, sporting goods, household furniture and electrical appliances. There are now specific shopping forums available to Canadian online shoppers who can gain access to Canadian shopping deals and flyers, coupons, cash back and rebates, freebies and also have the opportunity to participate in Canadian online discussions about shopping.
To give online shopping in Canada added leverage, not only are consumers starting to see more advertisement and access through print and other media, if you are a regular online shopper it is possible to see the development of product comparison sites to enable people to find the best in-store and online prices Canadian retailers can offer for a specific product.
There are several websites that provides the Canadian online shopping industry with a quality comparison shopping options that enable users to compare Canadian prices for products such as computers, electronics, gadgets, cameras and books from Canadian retailers in Canadian dollars.
One of the key benefits to online shoppers is the access to online stores without the extra fees of shipping or cross-border taxes. Most comparison shopping sites will offer a wide selection of Canadian Retailers to create a truly competitive arena.
Those websites are typically very user friendly and within only a few clicks it is possible for the consumer to read reviews on any product they are interested in purchasing. The information pages typically contain descriptions on the product including the model, price and product.
One of the key challenges for comparison sites is to keep the accuracy of the data. Some websites are more advanced than others and can run frequent updates several times a day.
Online shopping in Canada has been increasing in strength for the last couple of years. Canadian consumer studies suggest that there is huge growth potential for online shopping, which is needed for the increased trend of online consuming.
Canada's online shopping sites provide a large product range, quality reviews from the retailers, comparison options to help you get the best deal and most importantly a secure interface to complete your transaction. Consumers in Canada want to feel confident that they are getting the best deal for their money and it is becoming an increasingly competitive environment to be involved in which can only provide Canadian consumers with better deals in the future.

How is the State of the Economy Affecting Our Shopping Habits?
In recent years even I have been aware of the state of our economy; from shop closures to banks being taken over and of course the millions of job loses. All of these things are perceived as negative although, as we are all aware, people are making the best of these situations, for example leaving their previous career sector and retraining so that they can enter a new one, many choosing to now work from home.
This was no where near as popular several years ago as it is today, with many mothers and fathers choosing to do so so that they can still look after their children in their own environment instead of forking out the extortionate costs of child care. Therefore, this whole recession is to be thanked for this shift.
However, this was not what I wanted to discuss; I'm writing this because I'm very keen on recycling as much as I can and want to express my thoughts on this.
Now I know that with this huge recession comes much hardship and debt but I'm sure that a select few (literally a few) remain unphased and their lives unchanged. On the other hand, most are doing what they can to make their earnings go further; leaving the children with relatives instead of paying for child care, food shopping in the shops they wouldn't have used before and reusing/recycling whatever they can to make things like clothes last longer to prevent the need for buying new ones.
It is clothes shopping that I am most keen to talk about; you see only last year I would travel to my nearest large town every weekend to shop for clothes, spending up to £200 in one trip. These days however I am a different person, I do not have the need or desire to do this, nor the funds. Yes I too have been affected by this recession but I am only seeing it as a positive; a way of stopping that insane spending and accumulating of items I've hardly worn.
People these days are, like me, not shopping for clothes nearly as much as a couple of years ago, which is why so many of our well-known, long-established shop have closed. They are looking for alternatives to spending on brand new garments, such as altering and producing handmade items for themselves, and not forgetting buying second hand in the form of charity shops, boots sales, estate sales or vintage websites.
I am, as are so many people these days, absolutely hooked on vintage clothing. I love the fact that the items have histories and the wear and tear to remind you of this. I love how they make you wish you were living back when they were at the height of fashion and wonder who owned the piece before yourself. To add to this, what I love the most is that, because they are vintage, there are no where near the amount of any particular garment as before, meaning that you are sure to be unique and stylish without wearing what the shops are telling you to wear.
So if you feel that you'd like to take a step back to yesteryear and experience what has already been trendy (and will be again!) find yourself a vintage clothes shop and enjoy, or better still, why not get yourself online to a vintage clothes website and purchase online, letting them do all the leg work for you!

7 Tips to Control Unnecessary Shopping
Now a day in the times of economic crisis spending money on unnecessary things is a very unwise thing to do. With the recent belt tightening measures of governments all over the world shopping for non-essential things is a very bad way to go.
Recent studies have show that almost 20 percent of the working people are in some kind of financial debt. The situation is very serious in the United States where 6 percent of the shoppers have over 25 000 $ debt because of unnecessary shopping. In these cases you can speak of shopping as one kind of addiction.
There are various ways to control your shopping habits. The most useful tips for controlling unnecessary shopping are the following:
1. Admitting the truth - no one can help us to control your shopping habits if you deny that you have a problem with too much shopping. The first step is to admit that you have a problem and you sometimes buy things that you do not need and are not necessary for the improvement of the quality of your lives.
2. Examine your feelings - when you admit that you have a problem, the next tip is to isolate the feelings that make us shop more and spend the money you do not own. You can ask the people from your surrounding if you are unable to pinpoint the exact events, which lead us to excessive shopping.
3. Identify the triggers - the identification of triggering events is also a very important thing. If you identify the exact trigger you can do everything you can to avoid it from happening. The safest way is to limit the number of credit cards you own and try to rely only on your cash money.
4. Divert your free time - a number of people visit shopping malls and various super stores just because they have nothing else to do. These visits to malls and stores usually end up with unwanted shopping results. You need to find some additional activities that cost no money and they will help you to spend your free time. The ideal things are various sports, additional part time work or other home based activities where you will earn additional money.
5. Support Groups - believe or not, many people tend to spend more money than they own and they get deep into debt. This is all because of excessive shopping and if you admit that you have a problem with shopping then you can join a support group where you can discuss your problem with like-minded people.
6. Help of a professional - if you have a very serious problem that you can not solve it by yourselves or with the help of a support group then you have to seek professional help of an expert.
7. Financial Consultants - if you get rid of your shopping problems then you can try to seek professional financial help. There are agencies that are specialized to help and offer free credit counseling and various nonprofit debt management programs.

Men and Their Shopping Habits - Some Interesting Facts
Today the number of men who are responsible for shopping is growing at a very fast rate. This is due to a couple of main reasons, one being that the number of single men is rising, and the other reason is that with more and more women working and following their own careers, more men are becoming the food providers and shoppers of the family.
Interestingly, the way that men shop and cook is often quite different to not only the way that married men and single women do, but is also at odds with some popular beliefs and traditional assumptions. Having said which, it is true that twice as many men as women choose takeaway food as a dinner substitute, and the most popular takeaways are Indian and Chinese. This is one myth that is rooted firmly in fact.
But there are some interesting facts that have come to light after some recent research looked into the cooking and shopping habits of this growing proportion of the populations. For example, most women buy their shopping based on habit. They tend to buy things that they always buy, getting the same sort of things each week. Single men on the other hand tend to plan their shopping much more.
Thinking about meals, ingredients and compiling a list might seem more the sort of thing our mothers might have been good at doing, and whether it is down to a lack of confidence in making their minds up when actually at the shops, or just a deep seated need to plan and be prepared is hard to say, but certainly research has shown single men to be the more planned shoppers. They also tend to use convenience stores and local shops more than single women do, who tend to use the larger supermarkets more for their shopping.
A fact, which will startle many marketing firms, is that when shopping in supermarkets or convenience stores, only 4% of men expressed any interest at all in promotions or offers which were for non-food products. Household goods seem to be a blind spot for most single men who prefer to go for these items on purpose rather than being spontaneous when presented with a good deal. The most popular deal with single men is the 'buy one get one free', for fairly obvious reasons.
It might be assumed that single men tend to have fairly bland or repetitive diets, but in fact the opposite is true. Research has shown that most single men actually crave variety, and will go to friends for suggestions as their first port of call. Single women tend to go to their mothers and to cook books for ideas and suggestions, but men tend to draw on ideas from their social network, and actually seem to be quite keen to have a variety of dishes and flavours rather than the commonly held belief that it's curry every night.
In fact, research has gone on to demonstrate that single men prefer traditional British food rather than Indian or Chinese, turning this myth completely on its head. So, rather than stereotyping single men in ways we often see on television, this research has shown the growing proportion of single male shoppers is a market well worth a second look.

Do Your Grocery Shopping on the Weekdays Instead of Weekends to Save Time
The grocery stores are the busiest on the weekends. If you currently buy your groceries on the weekends, you may be missing out on a lot of time savings. On the weekends, you'll have to wait in longer checkout lines, take longer to find a parking spot, and push your shopping cart in more “traffic” in the store. But if you buy your groceries on a weekday, it's easier to find a parking space. You no longer have to cruise around the parking lot to find a space. And there won't be any need to follow customers back to their cars and wait for them to leave their parking spot.
The checkout lines are shorter. So you'll spend less time lining up to pay for your groceries.
The aisles aren't as crowded, so you can easily push your cart around without having people in your way.
But what if it's not practical for you to buy your groceries on a weekday? Try doing your grocery shopping at night. Most grocery stores are open during the night as well.
You can simply drop by a grocery store to do your shopping after you get off work. Then when the weekend comes, you won't have to spend your time doing grocery shopping, but you can do other things you enjoy. But most importantly, you'll shave off the time you spend on grocery shopping.
If you don't want to spend too much time after work doing grocery shopping, you can make a quick stop to the grocery store after work 3 times a week. Or you can make it 5 times a week or any number of times you prefer. This lets you divide the grocery shopping “workload” over the week. Your evenings will be more consistent instead of having an entire evening blocked out for grocery shopping.

Change Your Shopping Habits To Save Gas, Save Money, And Enjoy
Today, when I was filling up my car at a mind-boggling $3 per gallon, the truth of the moment hit me. Why are we still driving around town to buy the things we need when most of it is easily available online?
With online retail offering wider selection and lower prices than ever in history, doing your shopping at favorite web sites just makes sense. Almost all sites offer fast delivery with shipping costs dropping in recent years. It also makes a lot more sense for the environment and economy if one large truck delivers our purchases rather than all of us driving all over town individually. In the end we save money, save gas, and do our part toward lowering gas prices and improving the economy.
Of course, one of the main reasons we like to shop at our favorite stores is it's fun! Nothing helps me relax like spending time picking out a lovely item for my home. I'm sure many of you feel the same.
You don't need to forsake that enjoyment when you shop online. Today web sites offer vast selection that no "brick and mortar" store can. For example, the online store I founded specializes in LUXURY items for bed and bath. If you don't want just the same old sheets, for example, you can come to my store to find a very large selection of luxury sheets.
And when I say "large," I mean FAR bigger selection than any local store could ever offer. On my site, you can browse among over 200 name-brand products covering every style and color you can think of.
My store is just one example of what online shopping can be. The key to understanding this massive electronic shopping movement is to know online stores offer much more depth. Whereas Wal-Mart usually only offers 2 or 3 versions of a single product, online stores often specialize in a single area, offering hundreds of versions of a single product.
You can choose from different product versions that have come from all over the world, many with stylistic features and technological innovations that you may not have thought of.
Additionally, online stores let you use handy search features to quickly browse through their many offerings. Watch for links at the top of many pages that let you click to either more general pages or more specific information on a particular product.
Once you get the hang of online shopping -- and by now most of us have -- doing your shopping on web sites is fun and fast. Change your shopping to online retail sites. You'll have fun, save money, get better selection, and do our nation and economy a big favor.

Savvy Online Shopping
Savvy shoppers and bargain hunters are certainly not a new phenomenon. Ever since stores introduced the idea of sales there have been bargain hunters seeking out the best available prices on products and thrifty consumers are always seeking out ways to save money while shopping. However, online shopping offers shoppers many new ways to save money. Savvy shoppers can not only find the best deals online but can also find ways to further reduce the cost of these great deals. This article will discuss some of the ways savvy online shoppers can save money and will also discuss how these smart shoppers can also help to ensure the authenticity of an item when they are shopping online.
Finding the Best Deals Online
One of the greatest benefits of shopping online is the ability to comparison shop with ease. While comparison shopping at traditional stores may takes hours, days or even weeks for traveling from one store to another to determine which store is offering an item at the best price, online shoppers can typically accomplish the same task in a matter of mere minutes. In some cases of online shopping, finding the best deal can be as easy as going to websites which provide listings of online retailers for a particular item and produce comparison charts providing the information about the cost of these items from each retailer. This is an extremely easy method of comparison shopping and finding the best deal. However, even when this option is not available finding the best deal on a product online is typically not difficult.
Savvy online shoppers can find often find the best deal online by simply visiting websites of several online retailers and noting the price at which they are selling the item in question. One simple way to do this is to open a new web browser window for each online retailer the shopper is comparing. This way the online shopper can simply browse through the open windows all at once and then only keep open the browser windows from online retailers offering the item at the best prices. Once the online shopper narrows the search down to a few online retailers who are offering the item at a favorable price they can use other factors such as shipping prices and incentives offered to buyers such as future discounts to make the final decision and determine which online retailer is truly offering the best deal on the item.
Additional Tips for Saving while Online Shopping
Comparison shopping is one way online shoppers can find the best deals online but savvy shoppers can find additional ways to save money while online shopping. One way to do this is to seek out promotional codes offered by online retailers. This can often be accomplished by doing an Internet search including the name of the online retailer as well as phrases such as, “coupon,” or “promotional code.” This type of search may return a number of different websites which compile coupons and promotional codes for a variety of different online retailers. These coupons and promotional codes may offer the online shopper savings such as a discount off the final price of an item or free shipping. However, it is important to note that not all of these codes will be valid. Online shoppers should not only verify the promotional code is still valid but should also carefully review the restrictions involved with using the promotional code to be sure the buyer is eligible to use the promotional code to obtain a discount.
Ensuring Authenticity when Shopping Online
Savvy online shoppers also realize it is necessary to verify the authenticity of an item before making a purchase online. This is important because it can help to prevent the shopper from purchasing items which are replicas of the item they are seeking. Verifying authenticity is usually not an issue when the online shopper is purchasing an item directly from an online retailer who is licensed to sell the item. However, problems may arise when the shopper is purchasing an item through auction websites or through individual retailers. In these cases the items may be misrepresented either intentionally or unintentionally. Regardless of whether or not the online retailer is attempting to deceive the buyers or simply makes a mistake, online shoppers should know how to determine the authenticity of an item. This ability usually comes from researching the items well and being aware of the key features of the items.

The other day I was talking to a guy at the health club I just joined. (Never had time when I was working for someone else.)
We started talking about our personal trainers. If you aren't familiar with the term, these are fitness experts who are educated to design work-out routines based on an individuals strengths, needs and goals.
Anyway, Rick said something that struck me right between the eyes. "I got so confused reading all the books and fitness magazines. Everyone has a different opinion of what works the best. I finally figured if I was going to work out, I might as well pick one expert, listen to them and follow their program."
Later, as I was driving my sore body home, I thought about how appropriate Rick's comment was to Internet Marketing.
Everyone's an expert. (Even people who have yet to sell their first eBook.) And there are a million programs, books, secrets, techniques and tactics that will work for you.
The problem is, you can easily fall into what my favorite business school professor called, "Analysis Paralysis".
That's where a lot of people are stuck.
They keep reading, and it gets in the way of actually doing something.
***** I was guilty *****
I was guilty of this, too. I must have bought several hundred dollars worth of books and courses before I found what worked for me.
Fortunately, the expert I decided to follow was, in hindsight, an excellent choice. And by following his advice and listening to his ideas, I have built up a couple of successful income streams.
My point isn't that my "guru" is the right one for everyone.
The point is to pick one or maybe a couple of people you really respect, and model them. Of course, make sure they are actually successful in their own businesses first.
But when you find someone you respect and whose style you like, listen to their advice and follow what they recommend in their writings.
***** Save Your Brain *****
Following this strategy can save lots of brain cells that you would spend switching strategies and tactics. It avoids confusion and gives you a good point of reference from which to work.
You don't have to keep reading and searching for the latest eBooks. Assume your guru knows the latest tactics and will advise you of how well they work.
I'm not saying you never look at another eBook or eZine again, it's just that you have one primary star you follow, it's that much easier to find your way.
